Dream Big and Dare to Fail

My dream is that The Pre-Med Academy becomes a world renowned program such that the top medical schools in the country compete to recruit our students. Schools will even promise scholarship money to entice them to attend their elite medical training institutions.

Greetings,

I wanted to share with you an update.

I have a meeting with investors later this week. I spent the weekend carefully refining our vision at The Pre-Med Academy.

My dream is that The Pre-Med Academy becomes a world renowned program such that the top medical schools in the country compete to recruit our students. Schools will even promise scholarship money to entice them to attend their elite medical training institutions.

With such an ambitious goal, I wanted to spend time carefully considering how we will achieve such a forward and long term vision. Lofty goals need to be broken down step by step.

I won't give away too much though. There is a lesser known quote by the notable Historian Will Durant: "In politics, as in love, it does not do to give one's self wholly; one should at all times give, but at no time all." Gratitude [& excitment] is nourished with anticipation."

Here, it is much the same. I have to hold much back in order to delight our students later on. But I can share with you a few things that we will commit ourselves to in order to make this dream a reality. Many will say this dream is wishful thinking, but I have never been known to shy away from the challenge of proving detractors wrong.

Our focus, our singular obsession, will be to create so much value for our students that the our Program becomes life changing and sets students up for success for the rest of their lives.

To do this we will focus on five commitments:

  1. Excellence.

We will be obsessive about excellence. Excellence in the way we speak. Excellence in our habits. Excellence in the way we conduct ourselves. Excellence in the experiences we bring to the Academy. Excellence in bringing the full weight of intentionality, conscientiousness, and all of our formidable talents to bear down on making the Pre-Med Academy an exceptional experience.

  1. Consistency

The world is full of uncertainty. We want a consistent standard of excellence. Consistent results across individuals from different backgrounds and personality types. Consistency when it comes to being a program that parents can rely on to address their children's weaknesses and make the most out of their strengths. Consistent in delivering a world class experience.

  1. Attention to detail

We commit to obsessing over the little things. That includes the way we can always improve. That includes attempting to utilize different learning tools to teach our students. That includes tracking metrics that way we can understand where each student is at and how close they are to their goal. That also includes the simple things like making sure our students are heard and inspired, and that our tutors are engaged and uplifting. From reminding our tutors to smile at the start of each tutoring session, to having our students consistently ask each student how their week went and what they are excited for. These details are essential.

  1. Empathy

We view each student as an investment. What we pour into them they will pour into the world. Each individual is a diamond that takes years of development to reach its luster and brilliance. That investment is irreplaceable. Ultimately, The Pre-Med Academy is not just about achieving distinction for our program. Distinction and renown of our program is a byproduct of the character and development of each individual. It is who our students become and how their lives are transformed and the impact they will have on society that will speak to our program. Therefore, understanding and empathizing with students is paramount. We connect with them in order to help them grow and keep them inspired to do their best.

  1. Gratitude

Lastly, we appreciate the students and families who have entrusted us with the honor of developing the next generation of leaders-- of moulding and inspiring them. We appreciate our students for taking on the responsibility of helping others and making a difference in the world. We appreciate them for willing to struggle to reach their full potential. By cultivating immense gratitude for our students and their families, we become motivated to continue to find ways to pour into them and support them along their journey. Appreciation and gratitude are essential.

During my meeting with investors, I know what I'll say.

After I share all of our progress, I will tell them that we are aiming for that stars and in order to achieve our dreams we will focus with relentless clarity and energy on transforming the lives of each students for decades to come.

Each individual matters, each individual is unique, and each individual is worth more than their weight in diamonds and emeralds.

Yours,

Omar Saqr
